I have never been treated this poorly by any doctor. I scheduled an appointment because I could be seen the same day. ( I would be a new patient) I went in with extreme pain in my arm. He sent his nurse to the lobby to ask me what was the issue I was having. As I explained it in the lobby, while everyone else was listening she said OK, let me go ask him what he wants to do. He then sent her back out to tell me that he wanted to get x-rays. I am finally called to the back. He comes in completely dismissive. Has me raise and lower my arms and a few other basic movements. I explain that I had radial nerve damage due to a previous break I received in a car wreck. He basically told me that if it was nerve pain there was nothing that could be done. I began to tear up and asked him if there was anything that could be done that day? He rudely said, I am giving you a steroid pack. I think the issue is in your neck not with the radial nerve. He left the room. As I check out I discovered that he ordered an MRI that I needed preapproval from insurance and then I may need to see a doctor for a nerve study. I was never called to schedule the MRI. I received a letter from insurance stating it was approved. I message the doctor to find out when I needed to get the MRI. I was then scheduled for an MRI and a follow up appointment. My cost of the MRI is almost $500. I go for the MRI on a Thursday. On Monday, I am called to cancel the follow up appointment. The doctor stated he didn't need to see me for a follow up and that I needed to see someone for a nerve test. This is the worst care I have EVER received from ANYONE. Why prescribe medicine and order expensive tests (MRI and x-rays) if you never plan to discuss the findings, check on pain level, or progress after the medicine. I have been going to TOA since the early 90's and I have NEVER had this doctor or any doctor be as smug, dismissive, and uninvolved in care as Dr. Garside. I am not sure why I was treated this way I would have been fine with the doctor saying he couldn't see me at all instead of taking my co-pay, my part of the cost for an MRI, my part of the cost for x-rays all for three-four minutes of his time. I am truly baffled at this entire interaction

Dr. Garside performed 2 surgeries on me, both of which were completely botched due to his laziness. He cut into the cartilage in my knee and didn’t feel the need to let me know. This has caused extensive damage. He has been called a bad surgeon by multiple other doctors and patients that I have spoken to. He is absolutely horrendous. He cuts corners and doesn’t care at all about his patients.

Unnecessary Procedures - Saw Dr. Garside for a shoulder issue and a knee issue. For the shoulder I was given a steroid shot. My physical therapist couldn't believe I got the shot without MRI imaging to determine the actual issue. For my knee, he suggested surgery to address a small meniscus repair. Pain still remains after surgery. Dr. Garside's recommendation, just be patient. Showed no interest in really understanding what was going on. I've subsequently seen another Dr who couldn't believe what was done. Get a 2nd opinion before you go under the knife!!!

My visit lasted approximately 5 minutes. Dr Garside did not complete any exam other than a functional one that was also completed by my PCP. I have some obvious swollen areas of swelling and a shoulder injury that was completely dismissed, although the MRI revealed it. I was told to take a steroid dose pack and sent on my way as he felt that my arm issues should not illicit pain. I explained that the injury was one that I’ve been going to PT for more than 1 year to manage, but it is prohibiting me from functioning normally without pain. As a healthcare provider (a DDS), I felt as though Dr Garside was lacking in concern and was dismissive of my rather moderate pain that is increased with use and with more than $500k in student loans debt, not working is not an option. Having had many broken bones (both arms twice and a foot) previously , I’ve spent a lot of time in the care of an orthopedic doctor, but this experience was severely lacking. Read ALL of the reviews before you seek his care because you will likely be disappointed with the standards provided.

My husband went to him and it was the worst. He’s rude, he made us wait over 1.5 hours each time to see him for 5 minutes. He did surgery and 10 weeks later it’s still swollen. He sent him back to work even tho he can barely walk, he also does not care to give more PT, he declined it after 6 sessions. He truly is the worst, would not recommend to anyone.
