Pure luxury. An absolutely amazing place to stay. We felt truly pampered just walking into our room. We were greeted enthusiastically by Mel, who made us feel extremely welcomed and very special.
The house is impeccably decorated & furnished. From our room, to the landing library, the well-appointed boot room with butler’s sink, WC and raincoats on hand should it be a bit wet outside. There’s a games room with full-size snooker table, good sized dining room and comfortable lounge where you can take breakfast. The gardens on the banks of the River Nith are a delight too.
I’m so glad we were able to stay here and can’t wait to go back. Thank you very much.

I spent 3 lovely nights at Nithbank as a guest of Mel & John, while on a cycling holiday. I was staying in the Chamberlain’s Room which is very comfortable, full of light (if you want it, there are also original interiors shutters which can give you darkness if you need it), and with great views of the sunset and the birds at the feeders & in the surrounding woodland. The grounds are great for a walk and to sit and relax while gazing over the River Nith. In warmer weather (& when there has been less rain), I think it might be a good site for stand up paddle boarding or kayaking. The four Belted Galloway cows are also very photogenic, though I did not have time to feed them to get up close. I plan to come back for longer and bring my husband (& maybe some friends) next time!

Mel and John’s hospitality is beyond compare. They were able to securely store my bicycle in their heated outbuilding with space to hang dry wet gear as well.

Everything about the Nithbank Country Estate is wonderful. I was here for my birthday with our family and it was incredibly special! The grounds and rooms are beautiful and there is a lot to see in the area. Mel made the best scones and jam we had in Scotland. I cannot possibly express how amazing this place is!

Nithbank in autumn is truly spectacular. The room on arrival was stunning with spectacular views of the river Nith and the views beyond.
Scones on arrival were very much welcomed and fabulous!

We were able to walk the grounds and view the autumn colours.
The surrounding area was great to visit.
Mel and John were great hosts and Nithbank is certainly a place to visit this time of year.

What a superb bed and breakfast! We stayed for two nights and had the most fantastic time. Set in beautiful surroundings, our stay was peaceful and calm.

The room and residence were very clean and well-decorated, with a comfortable bed and good quality bed linen.

Fresh scones (fruit and treacle) are offered with homemade jam - these were delicious eaten infant of the gorgeous views from our room (the Chamberlain’s quarters). If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing and luxurious getaway this place is for you.

I have to give credit for the use of local ingredients and eco-friendly toiletries. The breakfast was brilliant - you can tailor a Scottish breakfast, or choose from salmon, plus the fresh fruit and homemade granola were very tasty. Warm croissants accompany the meal and never failed to impress.

Melanie and John made our time at Nithbank even more special - they are the most lovely, helpful hosts, and were always more than happy to give advice on what to do and go the extra mile for us.

Thank you again for such a lovely experience, we will be returning!

Oh where to even begin!? This is a truly special place, not only because it’s gorgeous and luxurious, but because it has the most lovely people taking care of you. Mel was an absolute delight. I felt so at peace when I woke up every morning to beautiful views, and Mel’s amazing breakfasts. I really wish I could bring her home with me 😂

When it was time to leave, I legitimately cried because I had such an incredible time. I can’t recommend this place enough, I don’t see how it would be possible to not enjoy it or feel it wasn’t worth it. I’m really hoping my husband and I will do another visit!

Schade, dass es keine 6 Sterne gibt. Nithbank hätte sie verdient. Ein wundervoller, ruhiger Ort mit einem traumhaften Garten direkt am River Nith. Die Zimmer sind großzügig und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Mel und John sind zwei sehr angenehme und zuvorkommende Gastgeber! Hervorragend auch die Qualität des Frühstücks und der frischen Scones zur Begrüßung. Danke!
